Translation intern recognised with AUSIT Student Excellence Award

LanguageLoop is proud to congratulate Translations Team intern Jordan Przibilla on receiving a 2026 AUSIT Victoria Branch Student Excellence Award.

Jordan received the award in the Translation stream of the Master of Interpreting and Translation Studies (MITS) at Monash University. The award recognises outstanding academic performance and is presented to final-year students based on their results throughout the master’s program.

Originally from the rural areas around Darwin in the Northern Territory, Jordan moved to Melbourne in 2019 to study Japanese Studies and Linguistics at Monash University, completing his Bachelor’s degree in 2022. After spending several years working back in Darwin, he returned to university in 2025 to undertake a Master of Interpreting and Translation Studies.

Today, Jordan is completing the final semester of his degree while interning with LanguageLoop’s Translations Team. Alongside his studies and internship, he is also undertaking a research project exploring fan translation communities on YouTube.

Reflecting on the experience, Jordan said:

“It’s been a bit of an intense workload, but I’m a firm believer in the trial-by-fire approach. I’m feeling like I’m actually a part of the team here and handling real work, which I much prefer to the intern stereotype of printing papers and fetching coffee.”

Jordan received the award at a recent AUSIT Victoria Branch meeting in Melbourne. He has also been selected to be featured in an upcoming edition of AUSIT’s In Touch magazine.

Jordan’s internship is funded through LanguageLoop’s Innovation Fund, which invests in research, innovation and capability-building initiatives that strengthen the language services profession and improve outcomes for communities.

Supporting emerging language professionals is an important part of that commitment. By providing practical workplace experience alongside academic study, LanguageLoop helps future translators and interpreters develop the skills, confidence and professional judgement needed to thrive in the profession. Congratulations, Jordan, on this well-deserved recognition. We look forward to seeing where your career and research journey take you next.
