What NAATI endorsement means for language services and why it matters
We are pleased to share that LanguageLoop is a NAATI‑endorsed Language Service Provider (LSP).
This endorsement is a significant milestone, not because it introduces new values to our work, but because it formally recognises the standards we already uphold in delivering professional interpreting and translation services.
What is NAATI?
The National Accreditation Authority for Translators and Interpreters (NAATI) is the national body responsible for setting and maintaining standards for translators and interpreters in Australia. It is jointly owned by Australian, State and Territory governments and has a core objective of supporting access and equity through high‑quality language services.
While NAATI is best known for certifying individual practitioners, it also endorses Language Service Providers through its new LSP Endorsement Model.
What is NAATI endorsement for Language Service Providers?
NAATI endorsement recognises that a Language Service Provider has appropriate governance, quality and ethical frameworks in place that align with nationally agreed standards for the language services sector.
To achieve and maintain endorsement, providers must demonstrate sound systems and processes across areas such as:
• procurement and engagement of interpreters and translators
• appropriate and consistent use of NAATI credentials
• quality assurance and continuous improvement
• ethical decision‑making and accountability
• risk management and complaints handling
Endorsed providers are subject to ongoing oversight, reinforcing that endorsement reflects sustained, accountable practice rather than a one‑off approval.
What endorsement means for our clients
For government agencies, service providers and organisations working with culturally and linguistically diverse communities, NAATI endorsement provides an additional level of confidence.
It signals that you are working with a provider that understands:
• when NAATI‑certified practitioners are required and why
• how to manage risk in high‑stakes interpreting and translation contexts
• the importance of ethics, confidentiality and professional judgement
• the role language services play in access, safety and informed consent
In practical terms, endorsement supports more consistent, transparent and defensible language service delivery, particularly in legal, health, community and regulatory settings.
What endorsement means for interpreters and translators
The LSP Endorsement Model reinforces the professional standing of interpreters and translators by requiring providers to engage practitioners appropriately and ethically.
It recognises that professional language work relies on expertise, training, accreditation and judgement, rather than availability or cost alone. This reflects a broader commitment to strengthening quality, trust and sustainability across the sector.
Why this matters
Language services are critical infrastructure in a multilingual society. When communication fails, the consequences can include legal risk, compromised safety and exclusion from essential services.
NAATI endorsement supports a shared national standard across the language services sector. It reinforces that quality, ethics and accountability are foundational to professional practice.
For us, endorsement confirms what has always guided our work. Language services are not a commodity. They are expert practice, particularly when the stakes are high. If you would like to discuss how NAATI‑endorsed language services can support your organisation or community, please contact us.
