VideoLoop supporting CALD communities as they receive the COVID-19 vaccine at LanguageLoop

VideoLoop, LanguageLoop’s on-demand video interpreting app, has been chosen to support culturally and linguistically diverse (CALD) communities in Victoria with the COVID-19 vaccine rollout.

Culturally, ethnically and linguistically (CALD) communities will be among the first people in Australia to receive the COVID-19 vaccination. To ensure CALD communities receive quality healthcare, it’s crucial that the COVID-19 vaccine is not only accessible, but is delivered in a culturally appropriate and safe way.

LanguageLoop’s VideoLoop app connects healthcare workers and their CALD patients virtually with an interpreter anywhere, anytime and in any language. This market-leading interpreting app assists healthcare providers overcome language barriers and provide quality healthcare to ensure their patients understand their treatment and can provide informed consent.

With over 300 languages spoken across Australia and the Federal Government hoping to vaccinate all adults by the end of October, it’s important that the vaccine is correctly communicated to the 26% of Australian who speak a language other than English at home.

Alfonso Ordonez, LanguageLoop’s Enterprise Relationship Manager, said VideoLoop’s on-demand function will be essential for walk-in patients who do not speak English or have a low level of English language proficiency.

“One of the most unique and valuable functions of VideoLoop is the on-demand function,” Mr Ordonez said.

“This function allows hospitals and health clinics to request an interpreter at the touch of a button, ensuring their non-fluent English patients understand how the vaccine works and can provide consent.”
