The team at LanguageLoop are pleased to announce the appointment of John
Antonopoulos as Head of Sales. 
 
John brings with him a wealth of experience, having worked in the language services
industry since 1997, actively interpreting for over a decade as a freelance interpreter and
then as an interpreter in the health sector, before taking on managerial, operational and
leadership responsibilities, leading Monash Health’s language service.
 
John is a longstanding and active member in the language services industry, contributing to
advisory and consultancy groups, taking a keen interest in industry and technological
developments and research, and seeking to raise interpreter awareness by presenting to
healthcare organisations and institutions.
 
“As an industry, sector stakeholder and subject matter expert my unique experience has
permitted me to see firsthand the valuable contribution that interpreters and translators have
on vulnerable communities as well as tackling various challenges affecting the sector. I have
been successfully published as a co-author in the Australian Health Review (August 2016)”
John says.
 
John is passionate about ensuring those from culturally and linguistically diverse background
(CALD) communities are able to access up-to-date information, be empowered to make
informed decisions and participate in Australian society to the greatest extent possible. 
 
He has worked with a large number of culturally and linguistically diverse communities and
organisations, recently working with Expression Australia improving access to language
services in Auslan.

provides unique insight into the industry.”
 
“My lived experience’ has placed me in some unique interpreting settings, having interpreted
in a range of settings, and focused on the provision of high-quality language services and
while advocating in the value of investing in language services.
John is very excited about bringing this extensive experience to LanguageLoop.
Memberships have included Monash Health’s Cultural Diversity Committee, the Victorian
Health Diversity Network, FECCA’s Healthy Ageing Advisory Committee, NAATI’s Victorian
Regional Advisory Committee, and he is a current member of NAATI’s Technical Reference
Advisory Committee TRAC. He is also a NAATI certified Greek interpreter and translator
from Modern Greek into English.
