Cultural Diversity Week is Victoria’s largest multicultural celebration, featuring a week-long program of exciting events and activities from 16- 24 March that invites Victorians to embrace our cultural diversity.
Now in its 17th year, Cultural Diversity Week ‘Proud to belong – Your Generation Your Stories’ is a fantastic way to celebrate the everyday diversity of Victorians and reflect on what gives us all a sense of belonging in our multicultural community.
Though we may have different cultural backgrounds, when we share stories with one another, we find our common humanity. The Commission sees the power of humanity every day – even in the most simple of encounters where people from different cultures come together and connect through common values and experiences. It is only by understanding our similarities that we discover the humanity we share, and the story of inclusion begins to unfold. On the journey, we learn that people we think are not ‘like us’ – are actually just people, like us.
