LanguageLoop is helping Aussie kids connect and communicate with the Thai cave boys by providing free translations of support letters.
Any child can have their letter of encouragement translated from English into Thai. The Department of Foreign Affairs are supporting the initiative and assisting LanguageLoop with the delivery of the letters to the boys while they are safely recovering in hospital.
LanguageLoop’s CEO, Elizabeth Compton said, “I’m sure many kids are very concerned for the Thai boys and their coach – I know mine are, and it has been the topic of much dinner conversation. My kids asked if they could write the boys a letter and if I could have it translated, and that is certainly something I could do! They then suggested that other kids might also like to write a letter to give the team hope and let them know Australia cares.”
The initiative was greeted with enthusiasm by the Minister for Multicultural Affairs, Robin Scott, saying that “it is a great way for kids to show their support, and with the help of talented Thai translators, we will be able to let the boys know the whole world is thinking of them.”
Letters can be emailed to translations@languageloop.com.au with the subject “Letter to Thailand.” Alternatively, they can be posted to LanguageLoop’s head office at Level 16 / 607 Bourke Street, Melbourne VIC 3000.
If handwritten, please ensure writing is clear and legible, and a maximum of one page. Letters need to reach LanguageLoop by Friday July 20.
