VITS proudly supports FECCA 2013 conference

VITS, the Victorian Interpreting & Translating Service, is once again proud to support the annual conference of the Federation of Ethnic Communities’ Councils of Australia (FECCA), the peak national body representing Australians from culturally and linguistically diverse backgrounds.

The biennial conference draws together leading decision makers, thinkers and practitioners to discuss and debate key issues that relate to Australia’s cultural and linguistic diversity. These are explored through a series of plenary addresses, panel discussions and presentations.
The theme for this year’s conference is: Breaking down the barriers: A strength-based approach for a just society.

George Bisas, CEO said today that, “VITS is proud to be a supporter of the 2013 Federation of Ethnic Communities Council’s Annual Conference. This year’s Conference, to be held on the Gold Coast, features a number of important sessions that aim to identify and challenge the barriers currently facing members of culturally and linguistically diverse (CALD) communities in Australia.”

Topics closely relating to language services include:
•  CALD women and leadership
•  Community empowerment and access to justice
•  Service delivery and diversity
•  CALD ageing and aged care reform
•  Reconciliation and multiculturalism
•  Skilled migration, temporary skilled migration and skills recognition
•  Sport and Multiculturalism

More details on the conference, held 7th and 8th November 2013 on the Gold Coast, Queensland, are available from the FECCA website. www.fecca.org.au
